The Phair debut at Ogr from May 3rd to 5th: A must-see art event
Torino is gearing up for the much-anticipated fifth edition of The Phair Photo Art Fair, an annual event dedicated to art and photography. This year, the fair will take place from May 3rd to May 5th at the Ogr Torino, specifically in the Sala Fucine, the former train repair workshop. With thirty-nine galleries participating, including representatives from Germany, France, Montenegro, Switzerland, and Monaco, The Phair promises to be a truly international affair.
As we enter the exhibition space, our attention is immediately drawn to the stunning image chosen as the guiding symbol for this edition: Blue Vignette 4, a black and white photograph with spray paint by South African artist Robin Rhode. This captivating piece sets the tone for what we can expect from this year’s fair – a vibrant blend of traditional and contemporary art.
The first day of The Phair, on May 3rd, will conclude with an exciting event organized by Club Silencio called “Una Notte alle Ogr Torino / The Phair – Photo Art Fair & Exposed Festival.” This evening promises a unique fusion of electronic music and themed games, creating an immersive experience for attendees.
One of the highlights of this year’s edition is the project “Orizzonti Urbani. Visioni e prospettive di otto artiste del territorio” (Urban Horizons. Visions and Perspectives of Eight Local Artists). This initiative aims to showcase the artistic research carried out by internationally renowned female artists based in Torino. Each artist will be interviewed to create a diverse narrative of the local art scene. Among the featured artists are Maura Banfo, Roberta Bruno, Monica Carocci, Eva Frapiccini, Marzia Migliora, Marilena Noro, Elisa Sighicelli, and Grazia Toderi.
In collaboration with La Stampa, The Phair will also organize four meetings dedicated to the innovations brought about by photography in various fields, including journalism, architecture, fashion, and tourism. These discussions will provide valuable insights into how photography has influenced and shaped these industries.
Another important collaboration for The Phair is with Tag – Torino Art Galleries. Together, they will work synergistically to host a large number of collectors and offer guided visits to associated galleries. This partnership aims to promote the local art scene and provide collectors with a unique opportunity to explore the diverse range of artwork on display.
This year also marks the birth of the Spada Partners Award, an exclusive initiative promoted by the Spada Partners studio in collaboration with The Phair. The award aims to support an artist, regardless of nationality or age, by acquiring a work that provides the most interesting and comprehensive representation of our times. Additionally, for the first time ever, the Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art Crt will acquire a piece exhibited at The Phair.
With its impressive lineup of galleries, thought-provoking projects, and engaging events, The Phair Photo Art Fair is undoubtedly a must-see event for art enthusiasts and collectors alike. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art and photography at Ogr Torino from May 3rd to 5th.
