Fiumicino and Ciampino win the Best Airport Europe award for excellence in airport services
For the seventh consecutive year, the “Leonardo da Vinci” airport in Fiumicino has been named the best airport in Europe in the category of airports with over 40 million passengers. This year, it is joined by “Giovan Battista Pastine” in Ciampino, which has been awarded as the best airport on the continent in the category of 5 to 15 million passengers. The survey “Airport Service Quality Award” was conducted by the international airport association, Airport Council International World, in collaboration with Amadeus, a leading technology company in the travel sector.
“The seventh consecutive recognition as the best airport with over 40 million passengers for Fiumicino and the first time for Ciampino, awarded in the category of best airport with 5 to 15 million passengers, makes us even prouder to be Italians. Thanks to all the staff of Adr, who represent our best calling card for tourists arriving from all over the world,” commented the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè.
Airport Council International World analyzed the preferences of approximately six hundred thousand passengers in over 400 airports worldwide, based on more than 30 indicators related to the airport experience for departures and arrivals. In addition to the “Best Airport” award, Rome Fiumicino was recognized for excellence in all categories considered: Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe, Easiest Airport Journey in Europe, Most Enjoyable Airport in Europe, Cleanest Airport in Europe. To date, only nine airports, in their respective geographical areas, have achieved excellence in all sections considered by the Airport Service Quality Award, but these are airports with traffic below 15 million passengers per year. “Leonardo da Vinci” is the only airport with over 40 million passengers globally to have achieved this result.
This prestigious recognition highlights the commitment and dedication of the staff at Fiumicino and Ciampino airports in providing an exceptional travel experience for passengers. The awards not only recognize the efficiency and cleanliness of the airports but also the welcoming and helpful attitude of the staff. Rome Fiumicino has consistently been a top-performing airport in Europe, and this year’s addition of Ciampino to the list of winners further solidifies Rome’s status as a premier destination for travelers.
Fiumicino airport, also known as Leonardo da Vinci, is Italy’s largest airport and is located just outside of Rome. It serves as a gateway to the capital city and is a major hub for international travel. With its state-of-the-art facilities, extensive shopping and dining options, and efficient transportation connections, Fiumicino offers a seamless travel experience for millions of passengers each year.
Ciampino airport, on the other hand, is smaller in size but equally committed to providing excellent services to its passengers. Located closer to the city center, Ciampino offers convenient access to Rome’s attractions and is a popular choice for budget airlines and charter flights.
The recognition of both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports as the best in their respective categories is a testament to Italy’s commitment to providing top-notch services to travelers. It showcases the country’s dedication to the tourism industry and its efforts to ensure a positive and memorable experience for all visitors.
As Italy continues to attract millions of tourists every year, the recognition of its airports as leaders in Europe reinforces the country’s position as a premier travel destination. Whether arriving in Fiumicino or Ciampino, travelers can expect world-class services and a warm Italian welcome.
