Bolaffi Auction House to Sell 630 Rare Advertising Posters

If you are a lover of vintage art and design, mark your calendars for the upcoming auction organized by Aste Bolaffi on April 16th and 17th. The auction will feature a collection of 630 Italian advertising posters, many of which are well-known even beyond national borders. This is an incredible opportunity to get your hands on some rare and valuable pieces.

Among the highlights of the auction are the works of renowned Italian and foreign poster artists from the 20th century. One of the top lots includes posters by Marcello Dudovich, a Trieste-born artist who is famous for his iconic Cablé Confort Michelin poster featuring Bibendum, the iconic mascot of the French company. Another notable piece is a poster created in 1908 for the Società Torinese Automobili Elettrici.

Dudovich, along with Leonetto Cappiello and Leopoldo Metlicovitz, will also be featured in a section dedicated to fashion, showcasing posters from the now-defunct Magazzini Mele of Naples. Cappiello’s important works from 1921 for Campari, both for their bitter and cordial beverages, will also be up for auction.

The auction will also include a section dedicated to publishing, featuring one of Giovanni Maria Mataloni’s earliest posters for Caffaro, the first newspaper in Genoa. Another notable piece in this section is a commission by Leopoldo Metlicovitz for the Ricordi company in Milan, advertising L’Ora, a Palermo-based newspaper founded by Ignazio Florio.

“These paper works, true works of art created as multiples for advertising purposes, have naturally aged over time and today survive in very few copies, often much rarer than contemporary paintings,” comments Filippo Bolaffi, CEO of Aste Bolaffi.

If you’re eager to admire these masterpieces before the auction, they will be on display from April 11th to April 17th at Sala Bolaffi, located at Via Cavour 17 in Turin.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to own a piece of advertising history. Whether you’re an art collector or simply appreciate the beauty of these vintage posters, Aste Bolaffi’s auction is sure to captivate your interest.
